NOTE… New Venue!
We’ve all heard the excuses from Legislators. “We ran out of time!”; “I worked hard to get that bill passed, but we just didn’t have the votes”; “You just don’t understand how the system works”; “It’s complicated”. True Texas Project is pulling back the curtain on the Games People Play in the Texas Legislature, and explaining all the tricks and gimmicks that are used to create excuses for not doing what we want them to do.
Join us as we take a close look at each step in the legislative process, and how our law makers use tricks and gimmicks to fool us into thinking they’re doing the right thing. Knowing how your legislator votes is important, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. You need to know what happens behind the scenes, and how things really move before that final vote is ever taken. Fran Rhodes, TTP President, will show you what to look for and how to push back.
About Fran Rhodes:
Currently serving as President of True Texas Project, Fran Rhodes first became interested in politics when Obama was elected. She attended a tax day rally in 2009, and joined several grassroots groups, subscribing to their online newsletters. Fran started attending NE Tarrant Tea Party meetings in the summer of 2009. In 2010, she took on leadership of the Volunteer Liaison program, and in 2013, established the Citizen Advocate program. In 2014 Fran joined the Board of NE Tarrant Tea Party, and in 2016 became Vice President. When NETTP re-branded and relaunched into True Texas Project, in 2019, Fran was promoted to President and now is helping to lead the organization and grow the grassroots army in Texas. Fran’s passion for this service comes from a desire to actually make a difference, influence what goes on in our government, and really make our voices heard. According to Fran, “Even when we don’t get the outcomes we want, people see that we show up, we put in the time, we do the work, and we are not going away!”
Fran holds a BA in Business Management from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, and is retired from a career in sales and marketing in the office furniture industry. Originally from Illinois, Fran got to Texas as soon as she could. She considers herself a Texan, after 3 decades of living in the Lone Star State, and is passionate about fighting for liberty in Texas. When Fran is not fighting for legislation, speaking to others about activism, or organizing the latest TTP special event, she is an active member of her church choir, and enjoys sewing, quilting and gardening.
