SUMMARY:Training for March 5th Primary- Travis County is hand counting mail-in ballots!
DESCRIPTION:The Texas Election Code grants both political parties additional liberties on election day of the Primary. Historically\, we have let Travis County dictate the terms of the election day contract. This year\, a small group of Republican precinct chairs negotiated new terms. They include:\nHand count mail in ballots\nRepublican controlled early vote signature verification\nReport of ballot style per registered voter\nReport of Results by voting center with County Comparison report\nDS200 Configuration reports with number of Voters.\nThese are “contract wins” and will give us more transparency into this year’s Primary. The hand counting will take many volunteers. Please consider volunteering yourself\, your friends and your family members. \n\nLakeway River in the Hills Church at 1310 Ranch Road 620 S\, Unit C10\, Lakeway\, Texas 78734.\nSaturday February 3rd (2pm-4pm) or Saturday February 17th (10am-12pm)\n\n  \nRSVP sign up here… \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScfIJS0hr1bxgBGFDOtCp-aS8DHHEPyYd0ADbNoyApWVIqESQ/viewform \nAny questions\, please contact: Cathy Cocco email: cathycocco@gmail.com cell: 512-522-4697

SUMMARY:True Texas Project Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join True Texas Project and Senator Bob Hall as we discuss the Texas power grid. Has it been reinforced since the great winter storm of 2021? What have our leaders done to solve the problems that our grid displayed a few years ago? Plus\, he will touch on the issues with Texas elections and why they are far from being secure. What can we do to improve the state of these two incredibly important issues in Texas? Come and find out! This will be a fun night of learning! \nSpeaker: Bob Hall\nHow To Video Series – January: How To Block Walk & Work Polls\nMonday\, January 8th\nOak Hill Baptist Church\, 6907 Convict Hill Rd. Austin\, TX 78749\n5:45pm – Prayer gathering (open to all)\n6:30-8:00pm – meeting\nNo dues. No fees. No memberships. No RSVPs \nAbout Bob Hall:\nSenator Bob Hall\, father of four boys and husband to Kay Hall\, taught his family the importance of faith\, family and hard work. Senator Hall graduated from The Citadel in Charleston\, South Carolina with a degree in Electrical Engineering and received a Regular Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. While a cadet at the Citadel he received numerous awards for leadership. He was the only Air Force Cadet selected to be a Battalion Commander and was awarded the coveted Wade Hampton saber as the graduating cadet who had contributed the most to the Citadel during the four years he was a cadet\, and was listed in “Who’s Who In American Colleges” his Senior year. Upon graduation\, Bob began his active duty as a Systems Engineer working to develop the Minuteman Missile System during the Cold War at Norton AFB in California\, where he achieved the rank of Captain. \nAfter the Air Force he worked in the Aerospace industry as a systems engineer and business development manager. In 1982 he left the corporate world and began working as an independent proposal consultant to aerospace and defense corporations. Then in 1984 he formed his own company\, Professional Proposal Management\, Inc. \nA compelling sense of duty\, shaped by his military service\, business experience\, and love for this country\, drives him to leave behind the legacy of a patriotic servant for his children and grandchildren. Envisioning their futures compelled him to become actively involved in the state’s political process and strongly believes it is time to stand in the gap for our children\, our liberties and our future.

SUMMARY:MEMORIAL DAY 2023
DESCRIPTION:Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May in the United States to honor and mourn the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the armed forces.   \n“Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation\, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.” – Ronald Reagan \nGOOD TEACHING MOMENTS FOR OUR CHILDREN. \n1. Explain the meaning of Memorial Day \nFirst celebrated in 1868 when a Union general declared May 30 as the day to decorate the graves of fallen Civil War soldiers\, after World War I Memorial Day became a holiday to honor Americans who died fighting in any war. In 1971\, President Richard Nixon declared the last Monday of May as a federal holiday to honor the men and women who died while serving in any branch of the armed forces in all wars. (Veterans Day in November is when we honor all who have served in the military.) \n2.  Teach Kids About Flying the Flag \n \nOur flag is an important symbol as a country.  Help your children to understand its significance.  A symbol of mourning\, the flag fly’s at half-past the morning of Memorial Day\, returning to full mast at noon.  Use this as an opportunity to discuss the flag\, and its meaning as a nation.  If your children are familiar with the  Pledge of Allegiance\, encourage them to recite it for you\, or have your older children teach your younger children and have them all recite it together!  If you have older children\, teach them how to fold a flag properly at the end of the day. \n3. Make patriotic crafts  Decorate your front door with a red\, white and blue wreath\, or create fun hats\, necklaces\, to spruce up your backyard barbeque!  Why not share your crafts with others?  Nursing homes are full of Veterans who would appreciate a decoration for their rooms. Though Memorial Day is about soldiers who died in war\, veterans who may have lost fellow soldiers in service will appreciate being in your thoughts. \n4.  Make a patriotic themed dessert \nAdd patriotism to your usual backyard barbecue by creating a special dish together.  Or how about some kid-friendly Patriotic Punch? Layer blueberry\, fruit punch\, and lemonade in a glass\, and use a licorice rope for a straw! \n \n5. Visit a war memorial or veteran’s cemetery in your town. \nHave your kids help you pick out flowers or make a wreath that you as a family can leave there in honor of the soldiers who died fighting for our country. You can find a list of local Veteran cemeteries on the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs website

SUMMARY:UPDATE! HB 900 PASSED! WE DID IT!!!
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE!!! 5/24/2023  \nAs most know\, HB 900 “The Reader Act” passed the Senate on 3 rd reading last night at midnight.\nIt’s on its way to the Governor. This is a huge win for Texas parents and all those brave enough\nto send\, show and read in school board meetings and Legislative hearings. We did it! Praise\nGod.\nHighlights:\n School districts must develop a book policy that prohibits the possession\, acquisition\nand purchase of harmful library materials\, rated sexually explicit\, pervasively vulgar or\neducationally unsuitable. This broad definition strengthens the bill.\n It requires book vendors to rate their books if sexually explicit or sexually relevant if\nthey want to sell to school districts in Texas. If a vendor fails to comply or correct a\nrating\, Texas schools may not purchase books from that vendor. This is huge\, because it\nforces corporations profiting from harmful library materials to be accountable.\nDue to the size and buying power of Texas\, it has the ability to leverage its size to force\ncorporations to do the right thing. Historically\, our leaders rarely make this stand. Let this be\njust the beginning. This is model legislation that every state can replicate to protect children. \nCALL and thank your State Representatives TODAY!!\nPLEASE DO YOUR PART! Click on link below! \nHB 900 is the library book bill written to prohibit sexually explicit books in K-12 libraries and hold book vendors liable for rating content of the same. The bill passed the House with bipartisan support. It has been on the Senate calendar for 3 consecutive days\, but has not been reached. The following link allows you to enter your identifying information and send a message to all the Senators and the Lt. Governor at the same time. It is very easy and very fast. Please take a minute and help push this bill to a vote. \nhttps://grassrootspriorities.com/index.php?t=4&a=47

SUMMARY:CALL TO ACTION!!! Texas Legislative Bills!! Click on links below and leave messages!!!
DESCRIPTION:Patriots\, \nWe are at the end of another Texas legislative session. Many good bills are held up in the procedural web of the legislature. Every session feels like a last minute disappointment as we all hold our breath hoping good bills pass before May 29th. It is difficult to understand the pushback and hurdles when Republicans have held a majority in the House\, Senate and Governor’s office for more than 20 years. We cannot allow what we see to discourage our involvement or our prayers. Let us be known as a generation that did not stand by and watch our liberties destroyed. What will you say when your children ask\, “What did you do when you first knew there was a war on our freedoms\, country and the state of Texas?” \nSB 163 Campbell – Parental approval for participation in sexuality instruction aka “Opt In”. Passed the Senate. House hearing is today on 5/9/23. Submit your comments to the committee HERE. \nSB 12 Hughes – Restrict Sexually oriented performances aka Drag Queen Story Hour bill. Passed the Senate. House hearing is on 5/10/23. Submit your comments to the committee tomorrow HERE. \nSB 29 Birdwell – Ban Vaccine Mandate for Covid 19. Passed the Senate. House hearing is on 5/10/23. Submit your comments to the committee tomorrow HERE \nHB 20 Schaefer – Border protection bill. HB 20 is being debated on the House floor today. Once passed it will be referred to a Senate committee. \nHB 900 Patterson – Regulating library books in public schools. Passed the House. The bill was referred to the Senate education committee on 5/2/23. It needs to be scheduled for a hearing. Senator Campbell is the vice chair of the committee and represents most of us as our Senator. \nCall senator Campbells office at 512-463-0125 and urge a Senate committee hearing.\nSB 14 Campbell – Prohibiting the gender reassignment of minors. Passed the Senate. It was set on the House floor on Tuesday and Friday last week and was defeated by Democrat procedural points of order. It is set on the floor calendar for the third time on Friday May 12th. Please pray for passage. \nElection Bills\nThe Texas legislature passed major reforms of our election process in the 2021 special session. (required b/c Democrats fled the state to avoid quorum in regular session) The Legislature\, in whole\, seems hesitant to work on elections although it is the number one Republican party priority. There is a lot of work needed to secure our elections. \nRPT Legislative Priorities summary found HERE.

DESCRIPTION:https://austinrepublicanwomen.org/rsvp/ \nGuest Speaker: Christi Craddick\, Chairman Texas Railroad Commission \n \nChairman Christi Craddick of the Texas Railroad Commission joins us February 9 as guest speaker at our luncheon meeting. Craddick\, who in December was elected chairman of the Commission by fellow commissioners\, is now serving her fourth term of office. It was 2012 when she first won a state-wide election to serve on the Commission which has primary regulatory jurisdiction over the oil and natural gas industry and stewards Texas’s natural resources and the environment. \nDuring her tenure on the Commission\, Craddick has pushed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of an energy industry that is driving the state’s unparalleled economic success. She has repeatedly proven that sensible regulations\, careful listening and plain talk can foster the kind of innovation that has solidified Texas leadership in the energy sector. She has made it a top priority to educate the public about the oil and gas industry and its impact on Texas. SUMMARY:Texas Speaker election and rules debate
DESCRIPTION:Written by Jill Glover\, the RPT Legislative Priorities (LP) Chair\nJanuary 12th (Thursday)\n“I am attaching a LP Talking Points sheet for Thursday. I cannot tell you how excited I am about Thursday and I am praying we are able to set the tone for the session of expectation of Republican leadership\, preservation of liberty and all that is good for Texas citizens! They really must do 3 main things this session: Secure elections\, secure the border\, and protect children. Those are the broad categories of the LP’s. \nI’m not sure of our schedule for Thursday as we won’t know details of rules debate until the Speaker is elected Tues. If Phelan wins\, he could try to minimize our impact and schedule it Friday or maybe even Wed. If Thursday\, or if Tinderholt wins\, then we will plan on watching the debate and fill the gallery\, the entrances to the House floor where the reps enter\, and overflow to their offices while rules debate occurs. I think most of the buses from all over the state plan to arrive around 9:00am. \nIf it is not on Thursday\, we will use Thursday as a lobby day to visit reps and senators offices and advocate for Ban Dem Chairs and our other Legislative Priorities. We will also hold a press conference on the steps of the Capitol on Thursday afternoon.”
